Flooder
“ | Flooders... These things can't be destroyed. | ” |
Flooders are invincible Octarian machines that appear in Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, Octo Expansion, and Return of the Mammalians.
Appearance
Flooders are large, cylindrical machines held up by four legs with wheels. They have a flat top and two purple "eyes" with a nose-like knob between them. Encircling the top of each Flooder is a ring of light purple lights.
Description
Flooders shower Octarian ink from their undersides, coating all surfaces underneath them and instantly splatting the player if caught in the torrent. In this way, they are like circular Splash Walls, except their ink is unlimited and they cannot be destroyed.
They are restricted to move along perpendicular pathways and will rush towards the player with lasers coming out of their eyes upon seeing them. However, the lasers do not splat the player. This can be avoided by hiding in ink, moving out of view, or leaving the Flooder's designated pathway.
Flooders may have an Octarian, a Crate, or a Vault on top, serving as a mobile platform. The player can also use this to their advantage, as their tops are fully inkable and Flooders cannot look up. Throwing Smallfry on top of a Flooder will disable it, preventing it from spreading ink.

Pro tips
- Players are able to pass by through Flooders. To do this, if there is Flooder moving closer, it can be side-hopped with momentum. Without momentum, it is not possible to successfully get past Flooders. A result is falling out of bounds or instantly dying by standing under an active Flooder.
- Using this strategy, it can also be used as a shortcut.
Trivia
- When playing Flooder Junkyard as a Kraken via the Template:A, Flooders cannot harm Agent 3 and can simply be passed under.
- Armor allows the player to move under a Flooder once, breaking in the process.
- The Flooder can be compared to Splash Walls, as it instantly splats the player, but Flooders move and cannot be broken, while Splash Walls can be broken and have a limited supply of ink.
- The chat sessions in the Octo Expansion reveal that Marina took a part in designing the Flooder when she was a former combat engineer for the Octarians.
- There is a Boss Salmonid that resembles the Flooder, namely the Griller, where it also functions similarly. Octarians are known to trade their technology with the Salmonids in exchange for Power Eggs.
- The Octowasher, an enemy from the Octo Expansion, has similar eyes.
- The Big Flooder was named in H05 Ink It Station.
