Launchpads are an object in the Splatoon series, appearing in Octo Valley, Octo Canyon, the Octo Expansion, Return of the Mammalians, the tutorials of Splatoon and Splatoon 2, and the Shifty Station The Bunker Games.
Description
Launchpads appear as flat circles of swirling ink on horizontal or vertical surfaces. If the player assumes swim form on a launchpad, they will immediately Super Jump to a predetermined destination. This functions like a regular Super Jump, meaning it is possible to use a Splashdown at the end of it. Launchpads are the most common form of transportation between platforms in single-player modes and tend to appear after an objective, such as defeating all enemies in the area, has been completed.
Appearances
In Splatoon, launchpads appear in every Octo Valley mission, including boss battles. They are also seen in Area 5 of Octo Valley, where a launchpad will take the player to the final boss kettle. A launchpad also appears at the end of the tutorial, launching the player to Inkopolis Plaza.
In Splatoon 2, launchpads are frequently present in Octo Canyon and Octo Expansion missions and are also used to travel between sectors in Octo Canyon. They are also used in a Shifty Station layout, The Bunker Games, and one again appears at the end of the tutorial, launching the player to Inkopolis Square.
In Splatoon 3, launchpads only appear in the following 24 Return of the Mammalians missions out of all 78 of them:
- No. 1 Octarians in the Crater? YIKES!
- No. 2 Sink into the Ink and SWIM!
- 0105 Relic Restoration
