Octo Eight-Step is a song performed by Turquoise October.
Description
Octo Eight-Step is essentially an extensive remix of Eight-Legged Advance, but with a very different song structure. The production remains very similar, but instead of the prominent guitar track, it is replaced by reversed samples of the Squid Sisters' City of Color.[1]
It was first heard in the Splatoon 2 - Single Player Trailer, and can also be heard in Squid Beatz 2, with a maximum score of 112 and 225 in Normal and Hard modes, respectively.
Other Versions
Octo Eight-Step (Kettle)
This is just the beginning bit with the flute motifs, but much more muffled and echoey, making it sound like it's being played in the distance. It plays when the camera is near a kettle containing a level with the main track.
Samples and interpolations
Inkopolis Memorial Mixtape
- Main article: Inkopolis Memorial Mixtape
Octo Eight-Step can be heard near the beginning of the Inkopolis Memorial Mixtape linking the songs Shooting Starfish and Eight-Legged Advance together. It mostly remains the same, except for the added record scratchings being played in the background throughout.
Etymology
Octo Eight-Step could be implying a march like Eight-Legged Advance, but it could also be implying a dance.
