Seafoam Shanty is a song performed by Bottom Feeders.

Description

Seafoam Shanty is one of the five multiplayer songs released in Splatoon 2 Version 2.0.0. Like all battle songs, it has a random chance of being played during online matches. It is a fast-paced Celtic punk piece, featuring an intro with a heavy emphasis on the fiddle. The intro leads into the chorus, with vocals in the Inkling language sung by Tangle Feeder. This leads into a brief guitar section, with various chants of "Hey!" before a brief break with vocals and alternating guitar and fiddle solos. The chorus repeats, now with backing vocals, before the song loops. The song was first heard during the trailer for Splatoon 2 Version 2.0.0. It can also be heard in Squid Beatz 2, with a maximum score of 332 and 529 in Normal and Hard modes, respectively. In Splatoon 3, this song can sometimes play in the lobby.

Other versions

Seafoam Shanty (Huge Holiday Updates!)

An alternate version of Seafoam Shanty can be heard in the Huge Holiday Updates! trailer for Version 2.0.0 of Splatoon 2. While mostly the same as the version heard in-game, this version features a definitive ending, cutting off some of the song before the loop, and repeating a few notes before ending.

Etymology

Seafoam Shanty is a reference to sea shanties, a genre of folk music traditionally sung by sailors, and sea foam.
