Description
We're So Back begins with Pearl and Marina singing the first section of the chorus before an instrumental section plays. Pearl and Marina sing some lines separately before they begin to sing together. Pearl then begins rapping with Marina interjecting lines towards the end of the section. A bridge follows where Marina sings while Pearl raps a few quick lines. They then sing the chorus together, after which the track loops back to the instrumental section at the start.
Lyrics
The booklet included with Ordertune gives the official lyrics for We're So Back. The lyrics are nonsensical; the Japanese hiragana and katakana simply give the pronunciation.

Trivia
- The music video of this song was accidentally made public by Nintendo of America on YouTube on 18 March 2024 at around 13:00 UTC, using the video thumbnail and description for Color Pulse (2024)[4][5] and without an announcement by @SplatoonJP or @SplatoonNA on Twitter. This video was removed several hours later at around 16:40 UTC. It was reuploaded with the correct thumbnail and description and announced on Twitter the following day.
- Off the Hook's performance of We're So Back in Inkopolis Square is the first in-game appearance of Marina's keytar, which had previously only been seen in live performances of Muck Warfare and Anarchy Rainbow. It has a slightly different design compared to its live appearances, with some of the stickers rearranged and its neck being moved to the opposite side of its body.
- Some of the song's verses appear to reference real-life language, specifically English:
- One of the verses sung by Marina, specifically the one saying ヘラナズハイ Heranazuhai, is similar in phonetics to the phrase "headliner's high", which is also the Japanese title of the song (ヘッドライナーズ・ハイ Heddoraināzu Hai).
- An in-universe quote from Pearl[2] states that multiple lyrics contain the phrase "Oh yeah". In the official lyrics given in Ordertune, these are instead written as "wow yeah".
- One of Pearl's lyrics (ちゃ ちゃ まりな cha cha marina) appears to sing Marina's name, possibly as a reference to her altogether because of the song's choreography having Pearl briefly point at Marina while singing this verse. Interestingly, seeing as the official song lyrics were first given in the Japanese-exclusive Ordertune booklet, the name called out is a romanization of her English name, Marina, instead of her Japanese name イイダ Iida. However, it could reference the surname given to her in the Japanese version, マリネ Marine, which serves as the origin of her English first name, and is thus very similar in pronunciation to it.
Etymology
We're (so) back is a meme phrase said when a previous event perceived as bad seems to have taken a turn for the better; it is commonly said before and/or after it's (so) over, which might be referenced by the name of the song It's Over from the Octo Expansion.[6] The phrases are popular within online gaming culture. It may be meant to serve as a reference to the return of Off the Hook proper and the resumption of their Splatfest performances (whereas prior to version 7.0.0 their presence in Splatoon 3 was limited to Damp Socks feat. Off the Hook and amiibo).
Names in other languages
The name of We're So Back is the same as English in all languages except for Japanese.
