Description

Into the Light is a mostly slow song played during the credits of the Octo Expansion. After an introduction of claps and finger clicks, the song opens with Pearl singing, with Marina eventually joining in as she sings the chorus on her own. Pearl then raps a section while Marina interjects a few lines. After this, the song changes to an electronic version of the intro and verse of Color Pulse, before Pearl and Marina sing the final chorus together.

In Splatoon 3, Into the Light plays in Inkopolis Square during the two-hour period between a Splatfest ending and the results for the Splatfest being announced. It also plays as the default song in the lobby in Inkopolis Square for 24 hours after a Splatfest ends. It is replaced by Daybreaker Anthem in Splatsville and Maritime Memory in Inkopolis Plaza. Into the Light can also be heard in the jukebox as of version 7.0.0 if the Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass has been downloaded.

Lyrics

The booklet included with Octotune gives the official lyrics for Into the Light. The lyrics are nonsensical; the Japanese hiragana and katakana simply give the pronunciation. According to a Famitsu interview, the former is used to indicate Pearl's lyrics in Inkling language, whereas the latter is used to indicate Marina's lyrics in Octarian language.

Other versions

Into the Light (live)

During live concerts starring only Off the Hook, a slightly extended version of Into the Light is used. Although each performance is different due to the live bands, they retain the same strong structure. Along with a general greater emphasis on the live instruments, the Color Pulse section of the track is altered to sound more distant and dream-like. There is also a longer pause before Marina starts singing again, which itself is also quieter before the final chorus, which plays twice.

Etymology

Into the Light is a reference to Agent 8 breaking out of both Octarian society and the Deepsea Metro and joining Inkling society, symbolized by the sun slowly rising during the credits sequence in which it plays.
