Underwater Neon is a song by Octoplush.
Description
Underwater Neon is an upbeat electronic song that utilizes synthesizers, a constant percussion line, and strange vocals. The song starts with a non-looped intro that is just a short synth riff and the constant beat, which ends with an electric guitar chord. This beat sounds like throat clicking and plays through the majority of the song. After this chord, the beat continues, now accompanied by a snare drum with a constant rhythm. The synth from the intro and the electric guitar chords are then heard and extended, punctuating the beat. At the 41 second mark, the synth and beat leave, being replaced by a strange synthesized voice. At the 54 second mark, the beat comes back and the strange voice continues, with its melody being followed by another strange voice. They sing until 1:08, where the electric guitar plays a different riff, and a different synthesized voice, resembling Mashup from Diss-Pair, sings along with it. This continues until a dramatic end at 1:38, where it then loops back to the verse after the intro. Overall, this song's structure and makeup are similar to Crater Eighters Routine, which itself is a remix of Eight-Legged Advance. Underwater Neon could be interpreted as Octoplush's equivalent of Eight-Legged Advance.
Other versions
Underwater Neon (Kettle)
This is just the first verse's beat and synthesizer, but muffled and echoey, making it sound like it is being played from a distance. It plays when the camera is near a kettle containing a level with the main track.
Trivia
- This song, alongside Nine Out of Tension and Flop to It plays exclusively in missions that let the player use their Hero Gear. As such, it only accompanies missions that use the white-walled flooded area as their background.
Etymology
Underwater is the habitat of most sea creatures, while Neon could be referring to the neon color scheme of Fuzzy Octarian Ink and the fish.
