Gameplay

This stage makes heavy use of a unique type of Splat-Switch: the A/B Splat Switch. The main objective is to ink all the switches on the floor across several sections, but there are items that can ink over and shut off the switches.

First, there is a Spreader that wipes over the first Splat-Switch. Attentive players will see the switch's trigger effect in the distance as Agent 8 automatically walks up to the equipper. Later on, Octosnipers could deactivate the pair of switches needed to move on. Then two Flooders could ink over the switches. After that, Octomissiles are fired at the switches. Finally, the player has to ink an entire platform's worth of switches as Octostamps (plus a DX) try to shut them off. The Octostamp DX has one switch on its back that is also required.

Trivia

  • The subtitle is a reference to the phrase "wax on, wax off" from the 1984 film Karate Kid, or The Clapper sound-activated power switch's jingle "clap on, clap off!"
  • Hypercolor Station was revealed before the Octo Expansion was released.
  • This stage has Game & Watch handhelds floating in the background.
