Layout

Overhead view of Undertow Spillway

Undertow Spillway is an abandoned underground flood bypass in Splatsville that was renovated into a Turf War stage. The spawn area features a wide area of turf that goes far to the right. The first drop is accessible to the other team via an uninkable ramp and goes also as far as the spawn area. The drop after that is an open area and to the left allows access to a raised area and an uninkable raised area. To the right of the open area is a small drop to another open area. The middle is two open areas separated by a wall in the middle.

Ranked Battle terrain

In Ranked Battles, specifications for the terrain or placement of objects are different between the modes; these changes create new paths or new objects to take cover behind.

Splat Zones

There are two Splat Zones, both located underneath the glass areas. An uninkable ramp is added to allow access to the opposing team's base.

Tower Control

The Tower starts in the middle of the stage, replacing the Bumper normally there. When advancing, the Tower goes left then straight, closer to the opposing team's side. It then goes right and continues going until it reaches the goal. The large glass areas in the middle are removed and a ramp is added in the middle of the opposing team's base.

In Splatoon 3, checkpoints have been added:
Checkpoint Location Timer (Seconds) Progress Amount
Before After Total
1 The first checkpoint is just before it turns left, right next to the starting position. 5 96 86 10
2 The second checkpoint is in the middle of the upper left area. 6 59 47 12
3 The third checkpoint is located in the upper middle area. 6 24 12 12

Rainmaker

The Rainmaker is located in the middle of the stage, replacing the Bumper normally there. The checkpoints are located in the open area to the right, and to the far left on the opponent's raised area. A ramp is added to the far left to allow access to the checkpoint. The pedestal is located on the first drop. The right of the spawn areas has been altered slightly, having an uninkable path being the only way to get to the pedestal. An Inkrail is added to the far right of the spawn.

Clam Blitz

The Clam basket is located to the left of the spawn, two drops down. An uninkable ramp has been added just behind the basket to help access the platform behind it.

Splatoon 3

Undertow Spillway was added with the launch of Splatoon 3.

Splatfests

Undertow Spillway was available in the following Splatfest as the Tricolor Turf War stage in Splatoon 3:

Big Run

Undertow Spillway is where the third Big Run is taking place.

Version history

Version Adjustments
1.2.0
  • Removed the box on top of the grating in Splat Zones because of an issue where attacks would pass between the box and the terrain despite looking like it blocked attacks from below.
2.0.0
  • Changed some parts of the Turf War mode terrain.
    • Deleted part of the terrain on the left-hand side when looking from the player start areas.
    • Added ramps to allow for invading opponent areas.
  • Fixed an issue where certain walls, when inked by a bomb's explosion, would be inked in locations that differed from the explosion.
  • Fixed an issue where players standing on the glass floor could be damaged from the other side.
  • Fixed an issue in Rainmaker mode where the DON'T RETREAT! warning would be shown at a shorter distance than intended.
2.1.0
  • Fixed an issue when playing Splat Zones/Tower Control/Rainmaker/Clam Blitz modes that prevented you from being able to submerge in ink in certain areas, regardless of whether they were inked or not.
