Asynchronous Rondo is a Jelleton boss in Splatoon 3: Side Order.

Description

Asynchronous Rondo is a large rotating tower. The boss and its Floor resemble a panopticon prison.

Strategy

Asynchronous Rondo consists of nine layers of gradually bigger, spinning wheels. Each layer has an exposed face vulnerable to attacks; adjacent to the faces are spotlights that activate on the bottom layer which can be avoided by hiding behind cover or hiding in ink. However, it can still spot the player when fast swimming. When a face is splatted, the layer collapses and lowers the layers above it. The wheels can also be attacked, but this does much less damage.

It attacks by summoning hordes of Jelleton once a layer is destroyed or if the player is caught in the spotlight. If the player stands under the bottom layer it uses an attack similar to the Wave Breaker's shockwave. Should the player be seen by a spotlight, it may use Toxic Mist, a Torpedo, or an Inkstrike; an icon below the spotlight reveals which attack will be triggered.

At certain intervals, it spins rapidly and uses one out of three attacks:

  • Spinning while shooting Sting Ray-esque beams that slowly track the player's vertical position.
  • Shooting Splat Bombs in a circle pattern.
  • Releasing multiple Homing Arpeggios.

After its big attack, it is stunned for a short time.

The arena has cover on the outskirts which can be used to avoid the spotlight.

Only the layers with glowing lights along the edges need to be destroyed to defeat Asynchronous Rondo; Inkrails and Bounce Pads in the arena can be used to provide enough height to hit its higher layers should the player's weapon have a long enough range. If the topmost layer is destroyed, Asynchronous Rondo is instantly defeated regardless of how many layers it has remaining.

The face-like nodes on the rim
are its weak spots. Bad things
happen if the searchlight catches
you, so hide in its blind spots or
duck into your ink until it passes.

You'll need to destroy the lit-up
layers to win. You can work your
way up from the bottom, or try
for the higher layers first if you
have a long-range weapon!

Wait, is that a symbol under the
searchlight? I think it's showing
what kind of attack it'll do or
something.
Conclusion
Don't get caught in the searchlight!
