During a Mudmouth wave, occasionally a Golden Mudmouth will spawn instead. Golden Mudmouths have a golden sheen to their bodies and the light shining inside them is yellow. Mudmouths are Boss Salmonids that appear in Salmon Run in Splatoon 3 at special occasions.
Description
Mudmouths are tall, stationary salmonids that emerge from the ground during special waves called Mudmouth Eruptions, similar to Grillers and Motherships. Their body seems to be made of slime or ectoplasm of some sort. They have large maws that extend all the way down to the ground and an orange "mohawk" dorsal fin similar to Chums and Cohocks. Their eyes, skin, and inside of their mouths glow with a green-blue light.
Mudmouths spawn Chums from their mouths at a rapid rate and cannot be damaged by normal weapons. Throwing a Splat Bomb into a Mudmouth's mouth will damage it and cause a Golden Egg to be spawned from it. As the Mudmouth gets more damaged, its expression will become more pained, its body will begin to melt, and its dorsal fin will begin to fray, until eventually it explodes, leaving behind three more golden eggs.
