Back like I never left!
Octostomp Redux
— Intro to the Octostomp Redux boss fight.

Drop the Bass Station is a mission in the Octo Expansion.

Gameplay

Agent 8 must defeat Octostomp Redux, a harder version of Neo Octostomp from The Octostomp Returns.

Phase 1

Octostomp Redux uses the same attacks as Neo Octostomp does in the second phase of The Octostomp Returns, but gets up from its stomping attacks much faster. Additionally, it launches bubbles like the S2 Weapon Special Bubble Blower.png Bubble Blower's from its sides after its armor is destroyed, making it harder to ink.

Phase 2

Octostomp Redux will have two more buckles on its sides, all of which must be destroyed to remove its armor. It can also spit Bubble Blower bubbles and perform two faceplants in succession, trying to fake the player out with the first before following up with the second one.

Phase 3

Octostomp Redux gains two more faces like Neo Octostomp did in its third phase, and the extra buckles are moved to the new faces. All three faces will spit Bubble Blower bubbles followed up by a Splatling volley to burst them, and when it loses its armor, Octostomp Redux will produce even more bubbles when it faceplants.

C.Q. Cumber's Quotes

To pass this test, you must bring down a very tough enemy.
Be sure to make good use of your weapon's range.
If things get dicey, I recommend backing off and catching your breath.

Cap'n Cuttlefish's Quotes

That... That's an Octostomp!
I'm pretty sure Agent 3 took down one of those back in the day!
That's some next-level, advanced-cooling, ink-resistant armor!
Whaaa! He can jump that far?!
Dodging to the side is no good! Pull back!
You've got to destroy all the weak points!

Marina's Quotes

Bubble barrage! Dodge 'em or pop 'em, it's up to you!
Way to go, Agent 8!

Pearl's Quotes

Who cares about "back in the day"?! Eight! Show that thing who's boss!
Yeah - that's it!
Dodge-roll by pressing B while shooting and moving.
— When the player has the S2 Weapon Main Dualie Squelchers.png Dualie Squelchers equipped.
Whoa! More touch panels!
Dodge to the side when he tries to face-stamp you!
Use dodge rolls to avoid sustained attacks!
— When the player has the Dualie Squelchers equipped.
Yes! The armor is off!
Whaaa! What. Is. That?!
Dodge all of the attacks!

Trivia

  • The subtitle is a reference to the nineties game show Shop 'til You Drop, or the 1979 album that inspired its name, Bop till You Drop by Ry Cooder and the title comes from a term describing when a song is playing (usually dubstep music) and the music accelerates in rhythm.
