A dash track

Dash tracks are a mechanic found in Octo Canyon, in Octo Expansion, in Return of the Mammalians, and in Side Order. Upon touching a dash track, the player is sent flying in the direction it points in, allowing them to cross large gaps or quickly clear obstacles. Bombs also follow dash tracks. They are also used in a Shifty Station layout, The Maze Dasher. The player can move onto the dash track in any form.

Description

Dash tracks resemble conveyor belts that are always in motion. They can be placed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. In Octo Canyon and The Maze Dasher they have pictures of squids on them, resembling arrows. In Octo Expansion and Return of the Mammalians they have chevrons instead. In Side Order, they have wider chevrons that go across the whole pad. They also have the Ammo Knights logo on them.

Dash tracks send the player, enemies, and most bombs, flying in the direction they are pointing at a relatively fast speed. This speed can be great enough to cross a large gap that is otherwise inaccessible. Sprinklers and Suction Bombs remain on and follow the dash panel, while Burst Bombs explode on impact.
