Template:InfoboxMission/OctoExpansion Belly Phase is the third stage in the Octo Expansion's finale.

Gameplay

Agent 8 must navigate a series of falling platforms, jumping between them before they descend into the pool of water below and killing a Missile Octocopter at the end. Certain platforms, namely the ones with railings, do not move. In one section, Agent 8 can pick up an infinitely-respawning canned Burst-Bomb Launcher. The last section is against a Speedy Missile Octocopter.

If the player gets repeatedly splatted they have the option to skip this phase, with each splat contributing to 20% Skip Charge, where the following dialogue will be displayed:

"Blazing a trail where none seemed to exist, Agent 8 pressed on..."

Hm? Is there still life in you yet, phone?
I thought I heard noises coming from the phone... but nope. Not even a dial tone.

Next, find an energy core! Onward and upward!
Maybe if we take the long way around?
You can proceed by riding those falling blocks.
Nice!
It's coming from Agent 8's CQ-80! That must mean Eight is nearing the surface!
There's a vault over to the right! Find the key!
Nice! Head for the vault!
Gyah! It's a Speedy Missile Octocopter!
Niiice! The gate is open!

This doesn't look good...
There's a launchpad over there.
The platforms with railings aren't sinking!
Can you hear our music coming from somewhere?
Did you say something, old man?
Find that key!
Nice! Full speed ahead to that energy core!
Eight! Watch your step!
Grr... This missile copter is annoying!
Made it! Eight, take it down!
Woo! But what is an energy core anyway?

Trivia

  • The Sanitized Octarians inside the moving boxes are holding old Nintendo consoles such as the Game Boy Color and Famicom.
  • It is possible for Octoballs to spawn in the moving boxes, even though they never appear in the test stations.
  • The boxes containing Sanitized Octarians have a monitor that displays what looks to be "1 + 1 =" followed by Kamabo Corporation's eye logo.
  • The Japanese name for the Belly Phase can be translated as the "Stomach Sanitization Site". In this level, Octarians are seen coming out of blue-green liquid containers with Octarians packed inside boxes. Concept and commentary from HaikaraWalker reveals that the Octarians are Sanitized in the facility and being sent from the Belly Phase to their respective test sites.[1]
