Template:InfoboxMission/OctoExpansion Far-Out Station is a stage in the Octo Expansion.

Gameplay

When the player begins the stage, they land on a spawn point of a replica Port Mackerel. The player has to play a match of Rainmaker against a team of sanitized Octolings. Throughout the level, the player encounters Octolings using S2 Weapon Main Octo Shot.png Octo Shots with S2 Weapon Sub Splat Bomb.png Splat Bombs and others using Octarian S2 Weapon Main Hero Roller.png Hero Rollers with S2 Weapon Sub Curling Bomb.png Curling Bombs.

The player can find the Rainmaker on their pedestal and has to break the barrier and grab the weapon. They may choose different paths to the enemy pedestal, but the Octolings will always Super Jump to or come out of hiding at a fixed location when Agent 8 comes close to that spot. Like in online games, Octolings may respawn after a while after being splatted.

One Octoling with an Octoshot lands on a small L-shaped container near the first open area, as well as an Octoling wielding a Roller near a Sponge Block. A S2 Weapon Sub Splash Wall.png Splash Wall activates on the rightmost corridor when the player comes close to it while going through the middle corridor makes another Roller-wielding Octoling Super Jump. Choosing the left corridor ends with another Splash Wall.

An Octoling with an Octoshot Super Jumps in when approaching from the end of the left corridor, as well as another one on the containers in the middle of the second open area. Choosing the right corridor to the goal makes another Splash Wall activate, while the player can also choose to avoid it and take the left corridor or climb the Sponge Block on top of the containers, which Pearl suggests. More enemies spawn the closer the player gets to the goal, but climbing it ultimately clears the stage.

When the player enters a station with multiple weapons available to equip for the first time:

Use A to choose a weapon to use.
Recommended weapons have been given the Kamabo Co. seal of approval.
The reward for passing each test differs based on which weapon is used. Good luck.
You can switch out the weapon you're using by activating the equipper with A.

Advice before starting the mission:

Your mission here is simple: carry the Rainmaker into the enemy goal.
Keep in mind that you can charge up the Rainmaker to fire off a powerful shot.
You won't be able to use bombs while holding it though, so take care.

Trivia

  • "Far-out" is a sixties to nineties slang term meaning "cool".
  • The subtitle "Blast from the past!" alludes both to the Rainmaker's blast as well as to the fact that Port Mackerel is a returning stage from Splatoon.
  • The Japan Japanese name of this station is a pun on "Messhī-kun" (a man used by a woman to pay for her meals). It was a buzzword in the 90s Japan.
  • The Russia Russian title and subtitle of this station are referencing a commercial of "Fairy" dish detergent from around end of 90s beginning of 00s, where two rival fictional Italian towns called Villarriba and Villabajo were washing dishes after a celebration.
