Ride or Fry is a song by Octoplush.

Description

Ride or Fry is an upbeat house song with saturated vocals and synths, funky bass and guitar, and pulsating drums. The song starts out in the key of A♭ with a pumping bass heavily side chained to a 4 on the floor kick drum while the rest of the instrumentation gradually fades in. Once all of the instruments are fully present, the song's key shifts up a whole step to B♭, featuring lush synth pads, pumping drums and bass, funky guitars, and occasional horn stabs. Vocals in the verse are sung through a vocoder with the backing instruments initially being stripped to just drums and light bass fills. In the second half the verse, the synth pads and guitars return while the bass kicks back into full gear. After the verse, the song's key shifts back down to A♭ and repeats the melody featured in the introduction, with a cutoff filter sweeping up and down. The song then begins to loop from the B♭ section onward.

Etymology

The name of this song is a play on the phrase "ride or die", which is referring to someone extremely loyal, and referring to its usage in levels based on speed or use of Ride rails, and how all of the levels have time limits or easy ways to mess up (the player needs to ride, or they will die). Additionally, frying is a common way to cook some sea creatures.
