Details

Prior to the release of Splatoon 3, on 21 July 2022, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Live 2022 event would be held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan's largest convention center, for two consecutive days starting on 8 October 2022. Among the festivities confirmed were live music performances featuring music from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Splatoon 3. Later, on 1 September 2022, it was revealed that Deep Cut would be making their real-world debut in a concert called "Bankalive", a portmanteau of "Bankara" (Splatlands, or Splatsville) and "Live". Together, "DJ KK Paradise Mix!!" and "Bankalive" will be set to last an hour and will be held six times throughout the duration of Nintendo Live 2022, with three performances a day at South Hall 3. The last performance on the second day will be livestreamed on YouTube.

In an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19, those interested in attending Nintendo Live 2022 had to register in a lottery to enter the event. The first lottery registration for potential tournament competitors lasted from 26 July 2022 until 15 August 2022. The second lottery registration for general admission lasted from 1 September 2022 until 15 September 2022 with 10,000 entrants winning for 5,000 attendees per day. General admission winners were assigned one of six admission times to enter the venue on their designated day, as well as a seat in one of the three concerts being held that day. Some seats will also be reserved for tournament competitors.[1]

Other Splatoon-related activities at event will include the Splatoon 3 Start Dash Cup tournament (スプラトゥーン3 スタートダッシュ杯(JP)[a]), which will have a general division and an elementary school student division; the "Do the Jump, Slash, Splash, Gah" booth (ピョン・ズバ・バシャ・イヤーやってみよう!(JP)[a]) were employees guide young players through their first time playing Splatoon 3 and other Nintendo games, and the Splatoon 3 Skill Challenge (スプラトゥーン3 ウデマエチャレンジ(JP)[a]) where players who win two consecutive Turf War battles can win a Splatoon 3-themed notebook.

Merchandise made for the event briefly went on sale on the Japanese My Nintendo store when the second lottery registration began. In response to high demand, the remaining stock originally allocated to be sold at the venue was pulled to be sold online exclusively for attendees who had won the admission lottery. Additional stock for the general public will be produced and sold after the event has ended.
