Flooders are large, cylindrical machines held up by four legs with wheels. They have a flat top, two purple eyes, and a nose-like knob. They shower Octarian Ink from their undersides, coating all surfaces underneath them and instantly splatting the player, if caught in the torrent. In this way, they are like circular Splash Walls, though their Ink is unlimited and they cannot be destroyed.
They are restricted to move along perpendicular pathways, and will rush towards the player upon seeing them, and lasers will come out of their eyes, however, the lasers won't splat the player. This can be avoided by hiding in Ink, moving out of view, or leaving the Flooder's designated pathway.
Flooders may have an Octarian, a Crate, or a Vault on top, serving as a mobile platform. The player can also use this to their advantage, as their tops are fully Inkable and Flooders cannot look up.
Players are able to pass by through Flooders. To do this, if there is Flooder coming towards Agent 3, it can side hop with momentum. If you don't have momentum, you won't be able to successfully get passed Flooders. A failing result is that players can sometimes fall Out-of-Bounds, or if brave players fail, they will instantly die standing under an active Floorder.
Using this strategy, it can also be used as a shortcut.
Armor allows the player to move under a Flooder once, breaking in the process.
You can compare a Flooder to the Sub Weapon Splash Wall, as it instantly kills Agent 3, but Flooders move, and cannot be broken, while Splash Walls can be broken and limited in Ink.
The chat sessions in Octo Expansion reveal that Marina took a part in designing the Flooder, when she was a former combat engineer for the Octarians.
There is a Boss Salmonid that resembles the Flooder, namly the Griller, where it also functions similarly. Octarians are known to trade their technology with the Salmonids in exchange for Power Eggs.
