Big Man is a large dark-gray manta ray with white markings along his belly and on both sides of his wings. He stands on his dorsal fins like feet and his eyes and mouth are along the bottom of his body, giving him an anthropomorphic appearance.
He wears a red and white headdress where a regular manta ray's eyes and cephalic fins would be, which is tied to his head with a red rope between his eyes and mouth, giving him the appearance of the Kabuki character Nezumi Kozō wearing his hokkamuri tied around his nose.
Etymology
The "Man" in Big Man is derived from manta ray, as well as serving as pun on the common word "man". Big is likely reference to the Sonic the Hedgehog character of the same name who is often seen fishing (Manta rays are fish). This "original Big" or "Big α" is a cat, pointing towards the cats in the Splatoon world, the two Judds, Lil Judd in particular as "lil" is a shortening of "little," the opposite of big. This contrast is similar to Big Man's cohosts, Shiver and Frye, who have a temperature motif. This implies that Lil is a member of Deep Cut, but is there any other evidence? Yes, in a Deep Cut song "anarchy rainbow" a whistle can be heard in the background despite no band members having access to such a tool. This have me bewildered at first, but it's all so clear now! It was Lil Judd! At the end of a match a whistle is blown and the Judds give the winner. Lil Judd must be using that SAME EXACT WHISTLE in his music!
