Inkopolis Tower in Splatoon

Inkopolis Tower is a large tower in Inkopolis Plaza where players can access the lobby and play in online matches in Splatoon and Splatoon 3: Expansion Pass.

Description

Inkopolis Tower is a large, green tower in Inkopolis Plaza based on the real-life Tokyo Tower. Located next to Booyah Base and behind where Judd stays, Inkopolis Tower is the largest and most well-known landmark in the plaza. It takes on a large, curved A shape with four legs leading into a wide base, which narrows as the height increases. It is supported by a pattern of triangular beams, and is decorated with a large icon that is used in both the SquidForce logo and the Regular Battle symbol. Resting on top of the tower is a wide, cylindrical observation deck surrounded by satellite dishes of various sizes. Multiple jellyfish can be seen operating controls from inside the deck through a window. Additionally, two large speakers rest in front of the tower, providing musical ambiance for the plaza.

Within the tower on its lowest floor is the lobby, a cylindrical room where Inklings can access online multiplayer modes such as Turf War and Ranked Battle. The lobby is sealed by a sliding door, surrounded by wide screens showing depictions of the current stages.

Before the Octarians stole the Great Zapfish, it curled around the tower, providing energy for Inkopolis. However, even after it was stolen, Inkopolis is able to retain most of its electricity supply and function normally. Once Agent 3 rescues the Great Zapfish and it returns to Inkopolis Plaza, it can once again be seen resting on the tower.

Inkopolis Tower appears in promotional artwork for Callie vs. Marie.

In Splatoon 2, Inkopolis Tower is replaced by Deca Tower in terms of its role; however, it can be seen in the distance if the player stands in the corner of Inkopolis Square. Additionally, embroidery depicting the Great Zapfish curled around Inkopolis Tower appears on the back of the Zapfish Satin Jacket in all three games in the Splatoon series. Inkopolis Tower also appears in a map shown in a Splatoon 3 developer interview.

In Splatoon 3, Inkopolis Tower returns as part of Inkopolis in Wave 1 of the Expansion Pass, with the Great Zapfish curled around it constantly. In this game, the interior of the lobby at the base of the tower has been expanded to be identical to the one in Splatsville, though unlike the one in Splatsville, the song Sinkopated is replaced in the rotation by Inkopolis Lobby. In Splatfests, Inkopolis Tower changes color to match the third team, with the fox and tanuki statues on either side of it representing the other two teams.

Inkopolis Tower makes a cameo appearance in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the background of Urchin Underpass, replacing a generic skyscraper from the original version of the stage.
