The Painbrush was revealed on 16 May 2023 in the Sizzle Season 2023 trailer.[1]

It rolls with a speed comparable to the Octobrush and also has more range than the Octobrush. Though, unlike other brushes, which typically fling ink in a wide area, the Painbrush spreads ink in a much more narrow field, straight ahead of the user, similar to the Splatanas horizontal slash. It takes at least 3 ranged hits to splat an opponent.

Etymology

Painbrush is a portmanteau of the words pain and brush. Pain references weapons in other games and in real life, which cause pain. Brush references the fact the it looks like a paintbrush in real life and that it is part of the Brush weapon class.
