The S-BLAST '92 is a main weapon in Splatoon 3.

Appearance

The S-BLAST '92 bears resemblances to a rocket launcher such as the American M1 Bazooka or the German Panzerfaust. The body consists of a wide barrel with light and dark grey accents and a red tip at the end, with a scope mounted at the front. The body is connected to a handle in the middle and a shoulder mount on the back. A decal with the words "Super Scope" is printed on one side, and similar to the N-ZAP '85, it appears to be in English rather than the traditional Inkling language.

The S-BLAST '92 was revealed on 16 May 2023 in the Sizzle Season 2023 trailer. While in midair, the S-Blast '92 shoots only half as far as it normally would on ground, with a much larger burst.[1] This range is the same as the Luna Blaster, while the grounded shot is the same as the Range Blaster[2], with a small burst. On 17 May 2023, Nintendo uploaded a dedicated Twitter post showcasing gameplay from the S-BLAST ‘92, confirming the weapon's kit to be Sprinkler and Reefslider.

Quotes

SRL Ballistics here. Wooo! It's good to be back. And we are SO BACK with exclusive imagery of the new S-BLAST '92. What a weapon. This baby has two firing modes - one designed for precision and range, and the other designed for EXCUSE ME and KA-SPLOOSH!

Sorry - we're just so excited. Check out this video of the S-BLAST '92 in action. No batteries required! And note that jumping while firing is how you activate the shorter-range firing mode with bigger blasts. Keep your feet on the ground to hit faraway targets with precision.

Trivia

  • The S-BLAST '92 is based on the Super Scope controller, which initially released in 1992. However, unlike the N-Zap which is mostly unchanged, the design has been resized and exaggerated.

Etymology

S-BLAST '92 is a shortened form of Super Blaster 1992. '92 is based on 1992, the year the original Super Scope model was released. BLAST is short for Blaster, the weapon class it belongs to.
