The Splattercolor Screen is a special weapon in Splatoon 3. It is a canister which creates a large, mobile ink smokescreen similar to Toxic Mist; any opponents that pass through the affected area will be damaged and have their view of the game temporarily rendered in greyscale.

Appearance

The Splattercolor Screen, when activated, generates a clear canister filled with swirled ink, resembling a bottle of bubble solution. When thrown, the canister deploys a large, thin arch-shaped bow of the user's ink which inks the ground as it slowly moves forward. The ink is held in shape by two plastic structures resembling bubble wands on either side. The ink also produces bubbles as it moves.

Translation notes

  1. It is currently not certain what PLED is an abbreviation for but it is possible in reference to polymer light-emitting diodes.
  2. From unsichtbar (indiscernible) and Barriere (barrier). Unsichtbar usually translates to "invisible", but the less common translation "indiscernible" better reflects the distinguishing issues caused by the Splattercolor Screen's grayscale effect.
  3. From pantalla ("screen") and tinta ("ink").
