When activated, the player places a Beakon-like launcher at their feet and launches a generator into the air that emits a large, spherical barrier. This barrier blocks incoming enemy attacks but cannot block opponents from passing through it nor enemy attacks coming from within the barrier. Shots blocked by the Big Bubbler damage it, shrinking the barrier and reducing its active time. Attacks that hit the launcher or the generator deal increased damage. The shield has 2400 HP by default, both naturally shrinking and also shrink from enemy damage. Hitting the launcher or the generator does twice as much damage, making it about 1200 HP in comparison. While the Big Bubbler is active, players on the same team can super jump to it.

If deployed underneath an object, the generator can get stuck, resulting in a smaller barrier being emitted. If the user tries to deploy the Big Bubbler in the air, too close to an edge, or underneath very low ceilings, the special cannot be used and will give a "Can't Use!" prompt.


Multiple special weapons ignore the Big Bubbler's barrier.
Moving platforms that intersect with the launcher will destroy the Big Bubbler while platforms that intersect with the generator will not. If placed on a moving platform, both the launcher and the hovering generator will move with it. If placed on the Tower in Tower Control, the Big Bubbler will degrade much more quickly and will last for half its base duration.


The [[Wave Breaker]] waves ignore the barrier and can damage and locate players within. The [[Reefslider]] ignores the barrier, though the explosion doesn't. The [[Zipcaster]], [[Booyah Bomb]], [[Triple Inkstrike]], [[Killer Wail 5.1]], and [[Ultra Stamp]] also ignore the barrier. However, the Ultra Stamp can only penetrate if that user uses it while holding {{Button|ZR|Switch}}. Otherwise, throwing it will not penetrate the barrier. The [[Ink Vac]]'s [[Toxic Mist]]-like effect ignores the barrier as well, but the projectile and explosion do not. Using Big Bubbler on the enemy Big Bubbler will instantly destroy enemy's Big Bubbler.
