Splatanas are sword-like weapons, largely based on katanas in Japanese culture. They were first announced in the Splatoon 3 Direct. They largely perform like rollers, flinging ink with each press of ZR. However, if the button is held, a powerful vertical fling charges up. So far, the only confirmed splatana variation is the Splatana Wiper.

The charged slash possesses not only higher damage on its ink projectile, but also extreme damage capable of a one-hit splat on its melee hitbox. To increase the efficacy of this attack, splatanas are also capable of performing a quick forward lunge before attacking on the ground by releasing a charge while holding Left Stick Up.
