Use
* While its build has some supportive elements, the Neo Splash-o-matic is primarily a slayer's weapon:
** Its near-perfect accuracy and high rate of fire makes it very efficient at splatting opponents within its range
** Its lightweight nature and Burst Bombs make it very mobile, more so than the Splash-o-matic in the original Splatoon. Swim Speed Up can further help either close the distance towards an opponent or flee from an unfavorable matchup.
** Like most slayer's weapons, it can benefit from abilities that encourage aggressive play, such as Comeback, Quick Respawn, and Stealth Jump.
* The rapid firing rate and excellent ink coverage of the Neo Splash-o-matic make it an excellent turfing weapon, allowing it to more easily maintain map control, capture Splat Zones, and build up the special gauge.
* The primary weaknesses of the Neo Splash-o-matic is its lack of both damage and range.
** Main Power Up can increase the damage of the Neo Splash-o-matic, capping off at 33.3 with 31 ability points — reached with either one main and seven subs or two mains and four subs. If this is too high an investment, 10 ability points, or one main, is enough to exceed 30 damage.
** Sub Power Up can increase the throwing range, compensating for the short range of the Neo Splash-o-matic.
** Sharking and Ninja Squid can help sneak up close to opponents to offset the Neo Splash-o-matic's short range.
* The instant explosion and good ink efficiency of Burst Bombs offer plenty of uses:
** Quickly turfing various inkable surfaces for quick maneuvering and building of the Special gauge.
** Either leading off attacks before attacking with the main weapon or finishing off damaged opponents who try to flee.
* When used at the right time, the Suction-Bomb Launcher can turn the tide of a battle:
** Either capturing or holding onto a zone while forcing opponents away from the zone.
** Either leading or stopping a Tower, Rainmaker, or Power Clam push by clearing opponents out of the way.
** Quickly popping the Rainmaker's shield to instantly start or restart a Rainmaker push.

Countermeasures
* Having shorter range and weaker damage than most slayer's weapons, the Neo Splash-o-matic would be at a disadvantage against most typical slayer's weapons:
** All variants of the Splattershot, the L-3 Nozzlenose, and the Splattershot Pro outrange the Neo Splash-o-matic.
** Blasters and Rollers, while having ranges comparable to the Neo Splash-o-matic, can still overpower it.
* Any mid-ranged or long-ranged weapon, such as Chargers and Splatlings, can fire upon the Neo Splash-o-matic with impunity unless the latter gets close, at which the tables can turn.
* To prevent sharking, keep track of all four members of the opposing team – particularly which ones have neither been splatted nor super jumped to their spawn point – and turf suspicious puddles of enemy ink, preferably with a sub weapon. Point Sensors, while unable to turf, expose any sharking opponents and make them easier targets for long-ranged teammates.
* Splashdown and Booyah Bomb, if timed properly, can negate the Suction Bombs of a Suction-Bomb Rush.  A counter Bomb Launcher can nullify the effects of Suction-Bomb Rush, preventing its user's team from either capping a zone or continuing a push.

    • Its near-perfect accuracy and high rate of fire makes it very efficient at splatting opponents within its range
    • Its lightweight nature and Burst Bombs make it very mobile, more so than the Splash-o-matic in the original Splatoon. Swim Speed Up can further help either close the distance towards an opponent or flee from an unfavorable matchup.

    • Either leading or stopping a Tower, Rainmaker, or Power Clam push by clearing opponents out of the way.
    • Quickly popping the Rainmaker's shield to instantly start or restart a Rainmaker push.

Countermeasures

  • Having shorter range and weaker damage than most slayer's weapons, the Neo Splash-o-matic would be at a disadvantage against most typical slayer's weapons:
  • Any mid-ranged or long-ranged weapon, such as Chargers and Splatlings, can fire upon the Neo Splash-o-matic with impunity unless the latter gets close, at which the tables can turn.

Etymology

Neo Splash-o-matic is derived from Splash and Automatic, plus the prefix Neo, Ancient Greek for new. The prefix Neo is also used to differentiate it from the Splash-o-matic. This trait is shared among the other alternate sets of the Neo brand. The -o-matic suffix is also a common, cliché naming convention for technological gadgets.

シャープマーカーネオ shāpu mākā neo references the pen-based appearance of the Neo Splash-o-matic. Like the English name, Neo is also used to differentiate it from Sharp Marker.
