Squid Fashion Contest 2017
In a July 2017 issue, the Famitsu magazine held the Squid Fashion Contest 2017, which allowed readers to submit gear designs for a chance at having the design added to Splatoon 2.[1] The winning design, a ghillie suit, was added to the game with version 2.0.0. The set includes Moist Ghillie Helmet, Moist Ghillie Suit, and Moist Ghillie Boots.
Squid Fashion Contest 2017 also allowed the submission of graffiti. The winning design, Noshi Ika Graffiti, was added to Walleye Warehouse.
CoroCoro gear
In a November 2017 issue of the CoroCoro magazine announced the release of the "Emperor Gear" set, the set worn by "Emperor", the main antagonist of Season 2 of the Splatoon manga. The set includes Eminence Cuff, Milky Eminence Jacket, and Milky Enperrials. To obtain it, players must get a unique download code from the December 2017 issue of CoroCoro magazine.[2] The gear was obtainable on 15 December 2017. The download codes only work with the Japanese version of Splatoon 2.
A set of Spy Gear was first announced on 9 June 2018, with additional gear being unveiled on 9 July 2018. The set became obtainable using a code from CoroCoro magazine's September 2018 issue, which was released on 10 August 2018.[3][4] The gear consists of the Sennyu Suit, Sennyu Inksoles, Sennyu Goggles, Sennyu Headphones, Sennyu Specs, and Sennyu Bon Bon Beanie. The download codes, like the codes for the "Emperor Gear" set, only work with the Japanese version of Splatoon 2.
CoroCoro magazine held a drawing competition of designing a new piece of gear which the winner design gets to enter the game. It was released at 15 April 2019 for Japanese copies only.
