The weapon's fire rate is lesser than the Splattershot Pro and greater than the .96 Gal. Its only major drawback is its poor accuracy and turf covering ability; many shots deviate far enough to the left or right that they miss the target. The .52 Gal and its close relative the .96 Gal share their visual design and high-damage, low-accuracy performance.
The | == Appearance == | ||
| |||
The .52 is designed resembling a revolver-type grenade launcher, with a water cooler bottle as a base, taking the role of the weapon's chamber (or, in this case, ink tank). A grip, sight, and high-caliber gun barrel are clamped to the bottle. The parts surrounding the bottle are black plastic with pink accents, while the bottle matches the player's ink color. The sights are large and rectangular, and the barrel is black with pink polka-dot indents. The frame of the weapon is shaped slightly differently in Splatoon 3, and the stock is tilted downwards.
When the .52 fires, it emits ripples in the air from its barrel, and produces a deep booming sound.
This weapon is notably very similar in appearance to the .96 Gal, the main difference being that the .52 has a shorter barrel, and in Splatoon 3 the .96 has a differently designed barrel, muzzle, sights, and underside of its frame.

The .52 Gal is a main weapon in the Splatoon series, created by the weapon brand Deco.
A member of the shooter class, this weapon distinguishes itself by outputting enough ink in each shot to splat opponents in two hits, while still having a decent fire rate.
Appearance

- Each shot consumes 1.2% of the ink tank capacity.
- This allows players to fire 83 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
- This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
- When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 9 frames (6.67 shots per second).
- When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.6 units per frame.
- After firing, there is a 20 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
- Each shot has a base damage of 52.
- Shots travel straight for 4 frames. After that, they may lose damage. A shot will lose damage until it reaches 26 damage at frame 15.
- Shots have a radius of 2 units.

- This means that it takes 3 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
- When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
- Accuracy starts recovering 9 frames after the player stops shooting.
- Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 4 frames. Shots travel straight for 88 distance units.
- Ink droplets occur every 50 units.
- The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 3 droplets per shot.
- There are a total of 5 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
- Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 21 units.
- Droplets that occur when they travel past 200 units of the player have a radius of 18.5 units.
- All other ink droplets have a radius of 13.5 units.

The .52 Gal returns in Splatoon 2, with an identical appearance but slightly changed performance. It comes with Point Sensor and Baller.
It appears in one Octo Expansion Station:
Data
- The .52 Gal is a middleweight weapon.
- The matchmaking range is 133. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
- The ink consumption of 1.3% and ink tank capacity of 100% allows players to fire 76 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
- This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
- When initially firing the weapon in humanoid form, the first shot takes 3 frames to come out.
- When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 11 frames to come out.
- The interval between firing and when the player is able to enter swim form or use a sub weapon is 3 frames.
- If a shot is in the air for more than 11 frames after being fired, it loses 1.375 damage per frame until it reaches 30 damage at frame 27.
- The bullet hitbox has a radius of 2 units.
- The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 6 degrees.
- The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 12 degrees.
- The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. After 25 frames, the outer reticle will start shrinking, and will finish shrinking after 70 frames.
- The .52 Gal starts off having a 2% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle.
- This chance increases by 3% per shot, and maximizes at a 25% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle, meaning that it takes 8 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
- When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
- Accuracy starts recovering 9 frames after the player stops shooting. The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle decreases by 1.5% per frame, if the chance is not already at the minimum, meaning that it takes 25 frames to reach maximum accuracy. (35 after shooting while jumping.)
- Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 4 frames. Shots travel straight for 88 distance units.
- After that, the shot's velocity is set to 18.472 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and decreases further as it travels.
- Ink droplets occur every 55 units.
- The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 2.4 droplets per shot.
- There are a total of 5 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
- Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 19.7 units, and a width of 13 units.
- These droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1.2 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.45 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
- Droplets that occur when they travel past 200 units of the player have a radius of 20 units.
- All other ink droplets have a radius of 13 units.
- Droplets that are far from the player and all other droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.2 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
- If no ink droplets have occurred within 11 units of the player for 2 shots, the next shot the player makes will force a paint droplet to appear at the player's feet.

Sheldon's Introduction
The .52 Gal is a heavy hitter with an extra-large nozzle for shooting massive amounts of ink. Of course, all that power comes at the expense of fire rate... which is why you'll want the Splash Wall to hide behind while reloading. And if the other team is playing it a little too safe, you've always got the Killer Wail 5.1. Lock on and blast 'em with lasers! So if you're the type to hang back and wait for just the right moment, this loadout is for you. |

Trivia
- The .52 Gal's name may be a reference to its base damage per shot of 52. The .96 Gal's damage per shot is not 96, however.
- The .52 Gal was originally called the "5.2 Gallon" and came with the Inkstrike instead of the Killer Wail. This can be seen in an image from before Splatoon's release. The Inkstrike was later given to its alternate kit, the .52 Gal Deco.
- This was one of the weapons available to use in the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere.
- In the community, the name is commonly abbreviated to '52 Gal', or simply '52'.
- In the Splash Wall trial for Judd's Trial, the player is equipped with the .52 Gal.
- The .52 Gal also happens to be the main weapon of Aloha, a member of the S4 in the Splatoon manga.
Etymology
