The Inkbrush is a Main Weapon in Splatoon and Splatoon 2.
InfoboxGobbler
The Inkbrush is a main weapon in the Ss.

Splatoon 2
As a brush, when ZR is pressed, it flicks weak, short-ranged ink in front of the user, which can be done repeatedly at a fast rate to ink turf or splat opponents. If ZR is held, the user pushes the Inkbrush along the ground, leaving a thin trail of ink as the user runs at a fast speed.

Compared to the Octobrush, the Inkbrush has faster movement and swing speed and lower ink consumption at the cost of less range, damage, and painted turf per swing and thinner ink trail when running.

Appearance
The Inkbrush is designed with a paint tube in the middle, connected to paintbrush bristles and a blue handle with a textured black grip. The paint tube shows the player's ink color on the label, and a glob of the player's ink coats the bristles.

The Inkbrush was released on 2015-06-06 at 2015-06-06 02:00 UTC, under the roller class. It comes with Sprinklers and the Inkstrike.

When using the Inkbrush, the player's Inkling holds the weapon on the right-hand side of its body. Usually, this does not affect the gameplay, but if a player makes a sharp left turn while in enemy ink, they get stuck in the ink.

When flicking the Inkbrush, there is a random chance that more than one glob of ink hits the opponent.

The Inkbrush returns in Splatoon 3, now classified as a separate brush class. It comes with Splat Bombs and the Killer Wail 5.1. It was originally shown in a New Year 2022 teaser on Twitter, looking similar to how it does in the previous games, with the difference being that its bristles are darker, resembling the Permanent Inkbrush's bristles, but more saturated.
It appears in 3 missions in Alterna:
* 03 Conveyor-Belt Tightening
* 04 The Path to Perfect Penmanship
* 05 A Compulsive Collector's Paradise

The Inkbrush was released as free DLC on June 5th, 2015.

It is similar in ability to the Splat Roller, but covers a smaller area at a much higher speed. It also does significantly less damage, take five hits of the brush or four or so brush strokes to kill a normal opponent. Much like the Splat Roller, the Inkbrush can be used as a sort of melee weapon that splatters some ink in front of the Inkling. It comes in a set with the and the .

Tips
*Since this weapon is so fast, many maps that were once dominated by Chargers, such as Arowana Mall, are excellent for the Inkbrush, as its speed makes it difficult for Chargers to get a good shot.
*When using the Inkbrush, the player's Inkling will hold the weapon on the right hand side of its body. Usually this has no effect on the gameplay, but if a player makes a sharp left turn while in enemy ink, they will actually get stuck in the ink.
*This could mainly be used as an assassination item as of the speed boost
*Due to the fast speed you can receive, you can pull off hit and run tactics on the enemy and escape cleanly.
*Try wearing gear that has Damage Up and Ninja Squid. This allows you to do more damage quickly and escape faster before the enemy arrives to finish you off.
*As a speedy roller, distract the enemy and terrorize them as much as you can. When the enemies try to group up against you and finish you off, drop an Inkstrike on yourself and watch them blow up.
*Since it does barely any damage, the Inkstrike (as previously stated) is a great weapon to use.
*Try using its sub weapon, the Sprinkler, in choke points (small gaps) so the enemies have to run through it, or hit it from a distance before going through the gap.
*Do not run directly towards opponents as you can easily be knocked (as stated before).
*You can use this item as a support by claiming land with your Sprinkler and assisting with your Inkstrike from anywhere on the map.
*A useful Inkbrush technique also known as Jumpbrushing is used by using your shake onto the ground, going into squid form and jumping and repeating the process. This allows you to save ink while getting to the frontlines faster.
**It also widens the area of claiming turf but does not lengthen it.
Countering
*Using the Blaster can help you take them out with the splash damage.
*The Seeker can be devastating towards Inkbrushers if they are unaware of it coming towards them. In case it does not hit, follow up the trail the Seeker leaves in their path to get up close to kill.
*Cornering Inkbrushers can prevent an escape, since they do not have escape tools.
*Using the Disruptor can slow down Inkbrushers and stop their escape, allowing them to be easily hit and forcing them into squid form.
*Inkbrushes do barely any damage, therefore if you catch them off guard, they may get one hit on you before dying.

The Inkbrush is a main weapon in the Splatoon series.

The Inkbrush was released on 6 June 2015 at 02:00 UTC,[1] under the roller class.

Data

  • The Inkbrush is a middleweight weapon.
  • Ink consumption while rolling is 8.1% per second.
  • Ink consumption per attack is 2%.
    • This allows players to attack 50 times before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
  • When attacking with a depleted ink tank, ink will not be flung until enough ink has recovered.
  • Rolling with a depleted ink tank will not leave a trail or damage opponents.
  • The Inkbrush can be swung every 6 frames (10 swings per second).
  • When rolling, the player's movement speed is set to 1.92 units per frame.
  • When rolling on an uninkable surface or with a depleted ink tank, the player's movement speed is set to 0.96 units per frame.
  • After rolling, there is a 0.33 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • After swinging, there is a 0.5 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • Hitting an opponent while rolling deals 20 damage.
  • Attacks have a base damage of 28.
    • This weapon has a critical damage mechanic, so the damage dealt with one swing may be higher than this value.
  • For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 50 units and stops losing damage at 100 units. The minimum damage is 14.
  • Ink globs travel straight for 5 frames.
  • Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.
  • When rolling, the Inkbrush leaves an ink trail that is 12 units wide.

Sheldon's Introduction

The Inkbrush is a super-light brush weapon that lets you ink your way forward with blistering speed! It's not terribly strong, but you can make up for that by pairing that lightning speed with a Splat Bomb to confound your opponents! Splashdown will further stir up the front lines, so I'd put this set in the hands of those who like to disrupt the battlefield.

Sheldon's Introduction

The Inkbrush is a super-light brush weapon that lets you ink your way forward with blistering speed! There's not much room for power when you're moving that fast, but you can keep counterattacks at bay with plenty of Splat Bombs. Add the Killer Wail 5.1 to the mix, and you've got a combo that will confuse and annoy your opponents into submission! I can see it now... You blaze across battle lines... toss a Splat Bomb, and trigger the Killer Wail just in time to headbang along as the clock runs out. Whew! That's inking outside the box!

The Inkbrush isn't the most powerful weapon, but it makes up for it with style and panache, like our new tie-dye lab coats "someone" "ordered by mistake." It can be used to advance quickly while inking turf with dizzying flourishes, which can really mess with opponents' heads.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The Inkbrush appears as Inkling's forward smash attack in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, alongside a variety of other weapons that she uses in her attacks.

When attacking, she charges up and swings the Inkbrush forwards to deal damage. This also coats opponents in ink but does not ink the ground. It deals much lower damage if Inkling is out of ink.

Trivia

  • In Splatoon, this weapon and its variants are tied with the Luna Blaster and its variant for the shortest range stat in the game. It also has the shortest range stat in Splatoon 2.
  • According to The Art of Splatoon, around every ten matches, the Inkbrush's tube needs to be replaced.
  • In Splatoon 2, the Inkbrush was the first post-release weapon to added.
  • As of Version 4.1.0, the Inkbrush has the lowest possible damage output of all main, sub and special weapons in Splatoon 2 at 7.5 damage per swing.
  • As of Version 4.1.0, the Inkbrush is tied with the Undercover Brella for the lowest base special cost in Splatoon 2, at 150p.
  • Despite appearing in numerous trailers and promotional art before the release of Splatoon, the Inkbrush was not available to use until it was added in a post-launch update.
  • In the trailer for Splatoon 3, multiple Inkbrushes are displayed hanging in the Ammo Knights building interior, visible through the glass window to the right of the door.
  • This was one of the weapons available to use in the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere.
